BREAKING NEWS: Suge Knight Wanted For Robbing Yukmouth (HipHop News) Police are seeking Hip-Hop mogul Marion “Suge” Knight for allegedly beating and robbing Luniz group member Yukmouth.
According to TMZ.com, police were called to Ralph’s supermarket in the San Fernando Valley.
Knight and an entourage of 10 men apparently accosted Yukmouth around 10:00 PM last night.
They then allegedly stole $92,000 worth of jewelry from the Oakland rapper, who is best known for the hit “I Got 5 On It" with The Luniz.
Police are also seeking Knight for warrant over a previous misdemeanor offense.
40 Glocc Lands Major Distribution Deal For Zoo Life Ent.
(HipHop News) After years of releasing mixtapes and developing a strong presence on the Internet, rapper 40 Glocc has landed a distribution deal with Fontana, the independent distribution arm for the Universal Music Group.
The West Coast rapper’s Zoo Life Entertainment will be distributed exclusively by Fontana. Artists currently on the roster include Gail Gotti, Village Boo, Lil Boo, Locie Locc and TipToe.
"I'm happy to be in business with Fontana and staff and glad my business hand and grind was respected enough to bring my Zoo Life label and brand amongst the world and cater to the fans independently," 40 Glocc told AllHipHop.com in a statement. "Fontana is the way to go for me and the vision I have for my company…”
The debut release under 40 Glocc’s new union with Fontana is titled N.W.A. (New World Agenda).
“Everyone at Fontana is looking forward to working with someone so incredibly focused on his music and winning as 40 Glocc,” stated Fontana President, Ron Spaulding. “He is not only one of the most acclaimed West Coast Hip-Hop artists, but he’s also a true innovator whose label has come far in a relatively short period of time. Through our new collaboration, we will work with 40 Glocc to expand the playing field for Zoo Life across all mediums and platforms even further.”
Two new singles are also slated to hit the streets this month. “Damn” features Reality King and Ray J., while “Welcome to California” features a variety of remixes with major West Coast artists like Xzibit, MC Eiht, Kurupt, Mistah F.A.B., Yukmouth, Messy Marv, E-40 and others.
Heather B. Returns With DJ Premier For 'Open Bar'(HipHop News) DJ Premier will assist Heather B in ending an 8-year album drought by executive-producing her new LP, Open Bar.
Heather B's last project was 2002’s Eternal Affairs. With production from Pete Rock and DJ Premier, the album met with positive reviews despite not charting on Billboard.
Since then, Heather diversified her portfolio with appearances in commercials, and running a successful business out of the New York metropolitan area.
Although Open Bar is just her third studio album, Heather B has been in the entertainment industry well over 10 years, receiving her first national exposure as a cast member of the original MTV Real World season in 1992.
In 1996, she partnered with Boogie Down Productions for her debut Takin’ Mine, which delivered two regional hits in “All Glocks Down” and “If Headz Only Knew.”
She cites these experiences as the reason her current music is more confident, and immune to the pressures of confirming to today’s image-driven expectations of female rappers.
“When I first came out, I felt like I had to do it and now I want to do it because I’m grown and my music is coming from a sincere and confident place,” Heather explained to AllHipHop.com. “I’m not concerned with any trends or industry misconceptions; I want to put out some good music.”
While Premier is handling the new project’s direction, two other confirmed producers are Pete Rock and Kenny Parker.
The latter is behind on the boards on Open Bar’s lead single “The Game Don’t Stop,” which Heather uses to make a statement on the importance of creative, well-executed Hip-Hop.
“’The Game Don’t Stop’ answers all those questions that people have asked me and what I’ve questioned myself. What the end result of it all is, it doesn’t matter, Quality matters,” she declared.
Open Bar is tentatively scheduled for a May release. The new single is available now on iTunes.
